Free NYC Activities Here is a page at About.com that has a general list of websites that contain information about stuff to do in New York that is FREE. There is stuff like buildings to visit, the Staten Island Ferry, certain museums that have free admissions on certain days. A couple of fun places that are all around the same place are the the Apple store, FAO Schwartz, and one street over is Madison Avenue, which is known for major luxury shopping (window shopping for most of us).
Another fun, and somewhat cheap, activity would be to go ice skating at Rockefeller Center. It is $10 admission and $8 skate rental, but for a group price (15 or more) it is $7.50 admission and $3.50 skate rental.
And of course, there is always Central Park, which isn't as pretty during the winter, but is fun to explore, and has the Central Park Zoo which costs $8 as well as a skating rink that is $4 (but I'm not sure whether or not they provide skates).

Museum of Sex
The Museum of Sex opened its doors October 5, 2002 on Fifth Avenue at 27th Street with its inaugural award-winning exhibition, NYCSEX: How New York Changed Sex in America. Thus far, the Museum has shown seven exhibitions and three online interactive web projects.
The founder and executive director of the Museum of Sex, Daniel Gluck, conceived of an institution unlike any other – one wholly dedicated to the exploration of the history, evolution and cultural significance of human sexuality. In keeping with this mission, the museum advocates open discourse and strives to present to the public the best in current scholarship unhindered by self-censorship.
The Museum of Sex is committed to addressing a wide range of topics and material from different continents and cultures, time periods and media – from drawings and paintings to photographs, film and video to ancient artifacts and old and new technology.
Befitting the museum’s role as an educational sexual epicenter, it also provides a diverse program of events, including performances, lectures and seminars. Visitors also may visit the museum store, which offers an eclectic assortment of publications, home accents, clothing, and, of course, the best selection of sex toys available.
